This 5.6% increase in the population from 2000 has been determined to be a direct effect of increased foreign investment in Salton City property values thanks to new construction opportunities in 2012 and again in 2016 when it was announced that more neighborhoods would be added onto existing ones at no extra cost for residents who purchased homes there before July 1st, 2016. Once upon a time, Salton City had plenty of things in place that could have supported organic life, including lakes nearby that people could have drawn sustenance from – but for some reason or another, all the wells have dried up. This city is located between two major landmarks: the Peninsular Ranges and the Salton Sea. Surrounding the sea are rocky hills, which you can see from pictures! When this area first came into existence, it was founded as a seaside resort. However, climate changes resulted in the sea drying up and creating a large basin of land known as a dry lake bed. This land has been used for many purposes over time but has been transformed into an urban hub filled with greenery and lots of hills!

Earthquakes are common in Salton City, especially in the area of the Salton Sea. Salton City sits on top of several fault lines, like Imperial Fault, San Andreas Fault, and San Jacinto Fault to name a few. Plus the Superstition Faults are also present here that produce frequent non-damaging earthquakes. The Brawley Seismic Zone is also highly active producing damaging earthquake swarms with infrequency. All of these make this area prone to earthquakes. None of the earthquakes are severe, due to strict seismic codes. But, because it is near the San Andreas Fault there are still plenty of smaller earthquakes, frequent swarms, and other moderate-sized seismic events. The rough terrain and tiny village may make you feel as though you’re an ancient time traveler who has discovered a land untouched by the civilized world.
